이 과목은 영어학 전반에 대한 입문 강좌이다. 영어학의 필수 영역인 영어의 음운, 형태, 구조 및 의미에 관한 기본적인 지식을 습득하게 한다. 처음 접하게 되는 언어학적 강좌여서 그 내용이 생소하지 않도록 자세하고 쉽게 접근한다. 적절한 예를 많이 제시하고 스스로 해결할 수 있는 연습문제를 상시 부과한다. 이 과목을 이수하고 나면 영어에 대한 폭넓은 이해가 가능할 것이다. | This course introduces students to basic concepts of English linguistics. It provides a general survey of phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics of English. The students are required to do comprehensive self-study exercises reviewing every chapter.
